The Cholla cactus have dropped their flowers and the new fruits are starting underneath.
The cactus bloom in the early hot part of summer. In some places they will still be blooming in late July.
This photograph was taken on the fly in a shady place. The light and color and wilted blossoms and the silver bases seemed to produce a special glimpse. Soon after this time the bases and fruit will turn yellow.

This piece is a 12x16 printed photograph. It is archival pigment on cotton rag, mounted on foam-core backing and matted with 4 ply cotton mat. All materials are acid free. It's ready to hang with a hanger and nail, or can be professionally framed. It is titled and signed unless you request those marks to be left off (during the checkout process.)
